Noisy Flys

Hi All,

I have discovered another aversion that my son has and this time there is not a lot I can do. When switches in the house beckon, I can move things higher up or turn them sideways, the microwave, the computer hard drive, the TV etc....

This new source of frustration comes from anything that flys, especially insects that buzz. There is a certain criteria, the buzzier the sound, the more my son goes mad, flapping it away and saying "go ay frie" - we are all saying "go away fly" in the calm tones that experience has taught works best and I am now of course getting ready to go into battle for when the daddy long legs come out in late August!

On the SEN front my son's new school have been so helpful and they are really putting in a lot of effort even though he won't start until September. The Headteacher and Nursery Teacher are going all out to ensure he has a smooth start - the first time without one of the family with him.

I have been on to "Frescos" supermarket and got a lovely laminator as I am going to upgrade the picture exchange we have been using - hopefully by the end of the summer I will be able to start to withdraw the picture of a loo!

Have a good week!

Best regards

DIL

  • Oh grief switches - wait til he gets big enough to peer over shop counters and find all those little buttons at the back of the till that even the shop girl didn't know were there - now THATs embarassing - especially when he lunges for one before you can block - and moreso with an Aspie who looks like an NT.
    Empathy.

Try the 'I can buzz louder than you fly' game? Not to start a habit but to make buzzing less aggravating?

Blogrolling you - enjoy your break!
